on writings and such

I was writing a lot before Gustav and ever since we got back I've had nothing. I guess going a week w/o being able to write kinda took away whatever inspiration I had. Now I'm pissed.

I know I have writers on here. When you hit a dry spell how to you get rid of it?

I usually read a favourite short story, poem, or novella - something by a favourite writer but not too involved. Or, I watched a film. Pride and Prejudice by Austen, Kate Chopin's The Awakening, or AS Byatt's Angels and Insects never fail to inspire me.

Or sometimes I write a drabble, something completely different than what I was writing before and I give myself a time limit.

my writing teachers always say things like "you must write every single day" and "you don't need inspiration just perspiration". lots of cliches!

I don't hit dry spells very often, but when I do, I just try to write something different. Since Ten is pretty much my only constant character, I haven't run into a brick wall with writing him yet, because I write him in so many different pairings. If I do go through a few days' stretch where I don't feel like writing, I just take a break, and usually I find that my muses come back stronger than ever.
