Heroes, s2ep10, non-spoiler

You know what's been striking me so bad about Heroes? The similarities between the X-men stuff and them. Ok, we have the virus that's supposed to destroy 93% of the world's population that takes out people with abilities (can I call them mutants? can I?) and regular humans and X-Men had the Legacy Virus that at first only infected mutants but later evolved to humans, starting with Dr. McTarget (I can't believe I remember this shit, it's been ten years).

And, of course, don't get me started with the similarities in powers.

Logan/Wolverine= Adam and Claire. More so Adam because of the Samurai thing 'cause that was Logan's kink, and him and his father are both older than dirt due to their healing abilities. Not complete re-generation, but close enough.

Ms. Marvel= Niki. And if you include that Rogue absorbed Ms. Marvel's powers and for a while suffered with split personality you have that there too.

Rogue= Peter. If she touched them she would momentarily take their powers. The longer she touched, the more permanent. I know Peter just has to be near someone but it's close enough yet again.

Nathan and West, well, the flying thing is pretty common.

Adam also reminds me of Magneto. Not with the magnet thing, of course, but with his logic about his personal way to save the world.

I remember there was one character that could talk to machines in Marvel, but I don't remember who. Like I said, it's been over 10 years.

I could come up with more but I'm kinda sleepy. Although Stan Lee making that cameo appearance in season one did make me SQUEE! with joy for that inner fangirl in me. Who the fuck am I kidding? The outter fangirl, 'cause I completely did my SQUEE!-ing out loud. When are we going to see a Gambit, huh? They're in New Orleans, let's see a cajun that can kinetically charge objects. Preferably cards yo.

Oh, and for those who saw ep10 did ya'll notice how much "For the Greater Good" was dropped? HP-verse much?

See the time? That I'm awake is not a good thing. Damn insomnia. I slept through my morning shift yesterday, and that was bad. Then when I went in for my night shift it was so dead I was given the option to go home so I took it. I'm picking up a Saturday night to make up for it, and being able to put Trevor to bed in our own house instead of picking him up while he's asleep is awesome.

Oh! And I have to mention! oops_in_the_apt bought me Daiquiri Ice from Baskin Robins. For those who have not had this in all it's amazingness you absolutely must. Coming back from the movie her and Tanya stopped for ice cream and when they got home she told me she got me something. And I just knew it was that because she knows it's my weakness liek woah. And she kinda had a Baskin Robins bag in her hand. I had stopped about bought orange sherbet push-pops because we were talking a few weeks back about our intense love for those. Wanna hear what she bought herself at BR? Orange Sherbet. We each had a push-pop before breaking into the BR goodness.

I believe it was Forge that talked to machines. And in the unaired pilot for season one - I don't remember if it was in the real one - Hiro says he learned about the nature of time and time travel from the issue where Kitty Pryde goes back in time, so the whole, "Oh, I've never read comic books" thing just doesn't fly.

Interestingly enough, the original pilot had the radioactive man as a radical Muslim, who was supposed to be the 20th hijacker on 9/11.

Another one!

Kitty Pryde/Shadow Cat= D.L.

I love that Hiro is always bringing up comics and what he knows about a hero. Micah is constantly making references too, but some of the story lines are too direct (like the virus one). I'm not complaining, I'm kinda digging on the familiarity of the situations. I know Kitty did go forward in time, and Cable jumped around a lot as well as Bishop. I know Kitty wasn't a time traveler by ability, it was somehow else she did it. Bishop wasn't either, but I think Cable was. I really want to compile a whole list now of heroes that run together.

I've heard that the actually season, if you buy it in dvd form instead of just DLing it the way I do, has all kinds of behind the scenes and deleted stuff. I really want to see it but just don't see the point in shelling out $50 for something I've already seen when in a few years I can probably catch it on sale for $20.

OH! And I was reading a Heroes magazine yesterday at B&N and it said that in January they are going to release a six-part stand alone series called Heroes Origins that has six characters, separate from the series and in no way related, discovering their powers. Kevin Smith (YES!!!) and Eli Roth have already sign on for one ep each.

Kitty was sent back by the Phoenix Force, which was merged with Rachel Summers, the daughter of Cyclops and Jean Grey/Marvel Girl. I'm sure there were other time travelers, but I don't remember offhand.

Matt=Professor X, or possibly Psylocke or Jean.

I thought Heroes Origins was going to be a midseason replacement. Then again, with the writers' strike, maybe it was delayed.

It was supposed to be, but it was delayed for that reason.

And I saw Matt as that, but not as powerful as Prof X, Jean, or Psylocke. Maybe more the White Queen? Who, btw, is dating Scott Summers the last time I leafed through a comic.

Matt's dad (the name eludes me)=Mastermind.

Excellent point. *ponders more* Man, I'll have to dig out ye olde X-men comics.

I think I'm about to get lost on wikipedia for different characters. The only reason I don't want to say Storm= Elle is because all she can do is lightning. But maybe that's only what they wanted to take. Someone with her mental kinks can't be given that much control over something.

It could be that the company limited her growth, given how dangerous she already is.

With her I see a turn in attitude, especially since Noah keyed her in on some of the stuff her dad did to her. She's already faltering, she's wasn't as "pure evil" on ep10 as she was before.

Ah, THIS is why I didn't say anything...because I know NOSSING of X-Men! Apart from the odd cartoon episode here and there in my *youth* and the films (which I doubt stay true to the comics), I don't really know anything about it, so I can't make a comparison!

That said-wait, didn't you say you hadn't see the most recent episode? No, that isn't right.

ANYWAY...Adam = teh evil

There's no short way about it. He wants to find the vial, and let it looooooooose to keeeeeeeel people! He tried it once before, and failed. Now he's got Peter roped into thinking it's all about destroying it to save people, but...no. No, Peter. You're pretty, but not the brightest crayon in the box, I'm sad to say.

I really want Hiro to be able to take them down, but...not sure that's gonna happen. Because Peter, while he's not that great at working his powers out when (I think) he needs them, has them. And being around Hiro will allow him to be able to stop time AND to out play Hiro...gah! ALTHOUGH...maybe Hiro will-no, wait, that wouldn't work, and he knows it. Hmmm...I'm not sure where they want to go with this storyline, frankly...it seems a bit...I dunno, not the longest lasting storyline, to be frank.

Although, next week's episode will make for a fabbo last episode before no more (WAAHHH!!) for a while. Sigh.

Oh, oh, oh, I know what I can say in relation to X-Men! Ok, so, Rogue and Gambit? They were my OTP when I was like, nine. He was the brooding guy, and she was cool (also had a southern accent, if my memory is correct), and they liked each other sooo much, that they kissed/made out even when they knew he would collapse every time after. LOVE IT.
Nov. 29th, 2007 06:19 am (UTC)
Yeah, they were my OTP before I knew what an OTP was.

I just watched it at 3 or so this morning. I've had since the night it aired but didn't get a chance to really sit and watch it.

Adam also= teh sex

Peter is olive. Why is it always the pretty ones that are so dumb?
Nov. 29th, 2007 03:34 pm (UTC)
Olive? Damnit, I hate not knowing references...

Adam is yum, but I feel like he was yummier when he was in ye olde Japan.
Nov. 29th, 2007 03:47 pm (UTC)
I was just refering to what color he would be in the crayon box of intelligence ;)
Nov. 29th, 2007 03:54 pm (UTC)
Ah. Makes sense.
