two wanks and a skeet

So, Pretty.Odd. was released today and so far I love it! I've been listening to it a bit for a few days (cause it was leaked and I like getting things early) and you just have to not realize that you're listening to Panic! at the Disco, 'cause you're not. As much as I think this has been over examined when they took the ! out the name it was a good choice. This is nothing at all like their first album to the point that is sounds nothing at all like what you expect them to be. It's too reminiicent of The Beatles, for one, but it a way that's ok. Oh! And Ryan Ross sings on it! I loved the Denver dvd because you could actually hear him sing, and I love his voice. Nothing like Bden, which is dramatic and reminds me of a rollar coaster, but deeper and just, I don't know, smoother. I couldn't imagine him singing on the first album, though. Not with all the inflection required to make the point behind his lyrics clear. That was totaly a Brendon thing. But on this album it makes the points well.

I'm in love.

I've noticed that my musical taste lately have been calmer. Like, I was listening to Maroon 5 today and it's been a while since I've popped in their first cd. And The Hush Sound has been owning the hell out of me for a hot minute.

I also bought a Nintendo DS today so I can have complete childhood nostalgia for all their Mario Brothers games. I bought Super Mario Brothers 3 today. I swear, the subject of this lj says it all for everything I've been talking about so far.

I have to buy a new computer, this one is crapping out on me. I got it well before the storm so it's about time, but it's still money that I don't want to put out. Damn. I went and picked it out tonight so I'm going to get it tomorrow. Yea! It has 500G of HD space, a 19 inch HD monitor, and all kinds of goodness. And a s-video hookup so I can link it to my tv and watch Torchwood on there *g*

Here's some uploads for ya'll:

Panic(!) at the Disco
A Fever You Can't Sweat Out
Two demos, an acoustic track, and Maneater
Live in Denver, iTunes Session, AOL Session
Pretty. Odd.

The Hush Sound
Like Vines
Goodbye Blues

Hey, aren't they both doing the Honda Civic tour together this year? *GASP*

You really like it?
I only heard 'Nine in the Afternoon' and I hated it.
They are flat, the harmony is bad, and the lyrics?
I knew that they were much for lyrics when their first CD came out-- but to go LOWER? .. Needless to say, I wasn't impressed. Really had me upset.

Nine in the Afternoon took me a while to get into. It grew on me and then it sucked me in. I still can't watch the video without throwing up a little in the mouth. I like the album, I like the first much better because it was more upbeat and out there musically. This is different, but not in a bad way (except how they want to be The Beatles so bad Ryan Ross can taste it).

Sorry you didn't like it but try The Hush Sound, the first album. I haven't even listened to Goodbye Blues yet because I'm still absorbing Pretty. Odd. But I heard a few of the songs on myspace. They're a band that liking them took me by suprise. I had the album for well over a year before I got hit in the head with love for them. It all depends on your frame of mind while you listen, I guess. They're mellow, happy but not. I don't know how to describe them, but try it.

No one can be the Beatles but the Beatles.
I guess why that is why I have a sour taste in my mouth.

I don't have the Hush Sounds cd.
I still need TAI's new one.
