something for everyone

I'm a total liar about the not updating thing :)

Entertainment Weekly released a list of what they consider 'new classics' and I'm pleased to note that there are some up there that I have read. Major koodoos to Tim O'Brien to making it to #31 with The Things They Carried. I swear, that book tore my heart out and made sorbetto with it.

ETA: And Neil Gaiman picked his Top 10 new Classic Monsters and look what's at #3

1. Swamp Thing. The 1984-87 Alan Moore/Steve Bissette/John Totleben revival. The best muck-encrusted monster in the best comics.

2. Willem Dafoe's unpleasantly tragic Max Schreck in Shadow of the Vampire (2000).

3. The Weeping Angels in Steven Moffat's terrifying 2007 Doctor Who episode "Blink."

4. Hannibal Lecter in Thomas Harris' novels Red Dragon (1981) and The Silence of the Lambs (1988), back when he wasn't quite human and was all the scarier for it.

5. Grendel. The first and the best. Crispin Glover played him in Bob Zemeckis' version of Beowulf (2007).

6. Eugene Tooms, the immortal, liver-eating mutant from the X-Files episodes "Squeeze" and "Tooms."

7. The Nightbreed from Clive Barker's 1990 film of the same name.

8. Pennywise the Clown from Stephen King's It (1986). Because clowns are scary.

9. The Pale Man in Pan's Labyrinth (2006).

10. Craddock McDermott, the vengeful ghost that came with the suit in Joe Hill's 2007 novel Heart-Shaped Box.

Oh yay, I read about ten of them.

And *shudder* to the Weeping Angels. Ahhh, watching that episode alone at night was TERRIFYING!

I have seasons one and two on DVD but season 3 only on my computer and Blink is the only ep that I will sit down and watch because I love it so much.

I was freaking out! Finally Rose, after all the teasing, and she's so different it's not even funny. The one time she laughs you can kinda see her but whatever has happened since the last time she was with the Doctor has changed her.

Donna was everything I love about her and that we see her as she's never met the Doctor you can tell the big difference that he's made in her life. I really hate her mom.

Next week can't come soon enough.

I saw that we get to see Rose's family again. I'm really looking forward to that :D
