Baking issues, please help

Wow, two posts in one day. Or, almost one day. I know it's after midnight so technically it's the next day but you know what I mean.

I'm having a cookie dilemma.

I'm baking cookies this Christmas as gifts for my family. I bought these huge holiday tins to put them in & I'm going to make separators so I needed four kinds of cookies. I have my ginger cookies, white chocolate maple, and peanut butter cookies all ready to go. I've done those recipes so many times I have them perfect by now. I didn't want to do any fancy iced cookies, just things more traditional. Anywho, I needed a forth cookie. Looking through various recipes on the Betty Crocker web site I got to the idea to make orange cranberry sugar cookies. I found five or six vegan recipes for sugar cookies, and went to town trying to figure out the best mash up of all of them. Three batches later (yes, I did this tonight) I got the flavor and consistency right. GO ME!

The dilemma is they aren't exactly pretty.

The first batch was too many cranberries, not enough orange. Second batch, right amount of cranberries, too much orange. Third batch was Baby Bear to my Goldilocks.

I made the cookies the kind that you make in balls individually and flatten out. I have no experience with rolling dough and cookie cutters. I'm thinking I'm going to have to go that route and perhaps cut the cranraisins a little smaller (I have a food processor, it's not like I'd have to do it individually) just to make the rolling the dough more malleable.

So, bakers, advice please. Also, I'm leaving this entry public so if you know a baker and could direct them this way I'd appreciate it.

Happy Holidays!

I wanted to say that it’s nice to know that someone else also mentioned this as I had trouble finding the same info elsewhere. This was the first place that told me the answer. Thanks.
